Revealed at last weekend's MCM London Expo at the Crunchyroll booth, Sailor Moon is on the way to Blu Ray release in 2025. While we were unable to attend this time, the banner was captured by AnimeBluRayUK who always do a great job at event coverage (even attending the UK's first Sonic the Hedgehog convention last month!).
Given that Madman in Australia released the Viz Media uncut version, and they've rebranded to Crunchyroll, it's a good bet that this is the version we'll finally get in the UK. While the series did see a DVD release courtesy of MVM Entertainment, it was the DiC English dubbed and cut version that sold so poorly it never saw a re-release.
The story of Usagi and her Sailor Senshi has been a global hit since it was first released in 1991 via Japan's Nakayoshi magazine. Fighting the evil forces of Queen Beryl, the series was a wonderful example of a Japanese superhero team with strong messaging for young girls. It has made Naoko Takeuchi one of the highest earning manga authors in Japan, and she continues to develop the series to the present day.
