Prepare to Master the Universe on April 28th
Written by Ross Locksley on 26 Feb 2026
Yes we know, it's not anime, but doubtless for a certain generation, He-Man was as much a part of your Saturday morning diet as Battle of the Planets and Ulysses 31. With a wave of retro-brawlers hitting hard and fast, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction stands out among the crowd. And it'll help us pass the time until the Samurai Pizza Cats scrolling beat-em-up gets here.
The game is coming to Nintendo® Switch™, PlayStation®4, PlayStation®5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. If you're a Steam user you can wishlist the game here.
The sprite works looks first class and it appears that Bitmap Bureau have understood the brief - pack in all the action you can with as many Easter eggs as humanly possible. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it, and now we have a release date of April 28th, or "MOTU day" apparently.
The Story:
When Skeletor uncovers the ancient Dragon Pearl of Destruction, a relic of unspeakable power, he joins forces with Evil-Lyn to plunge all of Eternia into eternal darkness, and only He-Man, Man-At-Arms and Teela can save the planet.

Here's what we can look forward to:
