Synopsis:

After death and before reincarnation, the souls of the deceased pass through a fantastical realm known as, Another World. GUDO is a spirit tasked with guiding these transient souls to their next life.

While helping a young girl named YURI, he learns that humans have emotions that he does not understand, and his curiosity is stirred. He befriends Yuri and promises to always be with her through her difficult journey.

However, Yuri harbors a rare curse that could threaten humanity and upset the balance of the universe if she is fully consumed by anger. Through Gudo’s revelation, Yuri discovers a grave sin she committed in her past life. Unable to forgive herself, her growing anger risks unleashing the hidden curse. Charged by Goddess Mira to prevent this threat, Gudo embarks on a perilous thousand-year mission.

Despite constant conflicts with his guardian, Dark Sky, Gudo insists on giving Yuri a second chance at the risk of his life. He learns that forgiveness and inner peace is the only way to overcome the anger within and heal a broken world

Another World

Statement from Director Tommy NG Kai Chung:

Another World is a dark fairy tale, reflecting the harshness of our world and the hidden struggles we face. In an age marked by pain and division, I hope this film offers a moment of connection for those who feel broken, and perhaps a bit of relief from the solitude that often defines our lives. To me, the characters in this story feel profoundly real. When faced with truths too heavy to bear, they falter. They grieve, they rage—and they cling to the unresolved questions in their hearts. That stubbornness, that unwillingness to let go, has the power to destroy them… but it also fuels their strength. It becomes the fire that lights their path forward, even in darkness. At its heart, Another World is about belief. A belief that compassion, no matter how small, can bridge generations and heal even the deepest scars. As the film reminds us: Trust in timing. Trust in yourselves. I invite audiences to join us on this 110-minute journey. If you leave the theatre with just a little more warmth in your heart, then this story has done its job
