All You Need is Kill anime gets teaser trailer

Written by Ross Locksley on 13 Mar 2025

Warner Bros. Anime have posted a teaser trailer for a new series based on the sci-fi time loop light novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka that formed the basis of the (rather good it has to be said) hit Tom Cruise vehicle, Live.Die.Repeat.

STUDIO4℃ will be handling the show, mixing traditional animation with cutting edge CGI, the teaser trailer certainly retains the trippy visuals from the manga. Looking like a cross between Paprika and Venus Wars, we'll be waiting to get our orbs on this one as soon as possible.

The director is Kenichiro Akimoto, described as "up and coming", he's worked on Harmony, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE and Berserk: The Golden Age Arc III on visual effects, this will be his first time in the overall director's chair - he worked as CGI director on Children of the Sea.

"I am honored to be involved in the anime film adaptation of this wonderful novel. In making this work, which has been made into a manga and a Hollywood movie, into a anime, I hope to further enhance the value of this work with a visual expression that is typical of STUDIO4°C. And I hope that the viewer will find a little hope for life in the daily life that he or she repeats."

- Kenichiro Akimoto

You can keep tabs on the project via the official All You Need is Kill website.

Synopsis:
After an unidentified plant from outer space invasion, Rita finds herself trapped in a time loop, forced to relive the same day over and over again. With each loop, she learns. She fights. Her memories and experiences sharpen her skills, turning her into a formidable warrior. Yet, the endless cycle of death and solitude begins to wear her down. Then, she meets Keiji. “I’ve been repeating this day too,” he says. Two lost souls, trapped in an endless war. Could their meeting change fate?
