Transformers x Macross 7 toy teaser with Basara Prime

In a surprising move, Hobby Dengeki is reporting that Tomy will work with Takara to create the Synergenex Transformers x Macross 7 Basara Prime figure.

A greyscale sample of Basara Prime will be unveiled for the first time at the T-Spark Zone 2025 event on Friday January 17th.

Longtime fans (read: old) will remember that the G1 Jetfire toys was in fact a rebranded Macross Valkyrie toy, but thanks to legal problems with Harmony Gold, the design was changed for the cartoon. The figure was never officially released in the UK, so for us it was one of a number of characters in the series/comics that our American cousins were familiar with (like Dinobot Swoop, Wreckers Whirl and Roadbuster and a number of Pretender characters) and we would never see.

Even so, it's gratifying to see that old connection rekindled with this new collaboration and with only a week to go, it won't be long until we get a better look at what's coming.
