We've seen a steady stream of acquisition announcements from manga publisher Seven Seas Entertainment of late, and last night brought another to the fore, with an announcement that the company have picked up Haruyoshi Kobayakawa's manga adaptation of light novel series Re:Monster, with the first volume of the series scheduled for a November 8th 2016 release in North America.
Here's more on the series straight from the horse's mouth:
Seven Seas Sates Its Appetite with License of RE:MONSTER Manga
Seven Seas Entertainment is excited to announce the acquisition of the fantasy manga series, Re:Monster — written by Kanekiru Kogitsune, and illustrated by Kobayakawa Haruyoshi. Based on a popular light novel series, Re:Monster is the newest tale of reincarnation and survival in another world, but with a spin: the protagonist begins life anew as a voracious goblin.
Tomokui Kanata has suffered an early death, but his adventures are far from over. He is reborn into a fantastical world of swords and magic-- as a lowly goblin! Not content to let this stop him, the now renamed “Rou” uses his new physical abilities and his old memories to plow ahead in a world where consuming other creatures allows him to acquire their strengths and powers.
"Re:Monster falls into the increasingly popular category of a hero reborn into an RPG-like world," said Seven Seas' publisher Jason DeAngelis. "Much like Mushoku Tensei, Overlord, or Sword Art Online, a young man is transported into a fantasy world to begin a new life, but in Re:Monster, he's reborn as a goblin—a very, very hungry goblin. With strong artwork and a unique story, it’s sure to be a winner."
Seven Seas will publish Re:Monster for the first time in print in North America as single volumes. The first volume will be released on November 8, 2016 for $12.99 US / $14.99 CAN.
