On December 3rd, the City String Ensemble will be performing classical versions of anime covers at the art-deco Earth Theatre in East London. An amphitheatre with seating, the venue will come alive with a fusion of classical instruments and catchy anime favourites.
Tickets can be booked on the official City String Ensemble website - act fast, because this is sure to sell out quickly.
From the Press Release:
Titled “Best of Anime", this performance is not your typical classical concert. While it features a string quartet playing classical instruments, the programme has been meticulously curated to capture the overall soul of anime music with the inclusion of our highly regarded anime opening theme string covers (think Pokémon!) and the iconic Studio Ghibli soundtrack music (Spirited Away etc.). This fusion aims to bridge the gap between two seemingly disparate worlds, appealing not only to classical music enthusiasts but also to a younger, vibrant anime-loving audience. It is part of our vision as an ensemble to combine classical performance with music from modern culture and our more inclusive and informal performance style is a feature of our concerts.
EartH Amphitheatre East London
Renowned for their exceptional renditions of music from the popular and anime genres, this versatile group of classically-trained musicians will transport the audience through anime soundscapes, with both beloved classics and contemporary favourites performed in a concert aptly titled, “Best of Anime.” With music selections from their highly acclaimed "Best of Anime" EP to Joe Hisaishi’s enchanting scores of the iconic Studio Ghibli movies, City String Ensemble has meticulously curated a programme that captures the soul of the anime genre.
An ensemble that boasts a progressive approach to classical string playing, City String Ensemble invites audiences to experience a performance unlike other classical concerts. With a more informal and inclusive performance (bar open throughout), audiences will have the unique opportunity to choose what music is performed on the night.
"We're excited to bring our vision of combining progressive classical performance with the beloved genre of anime to the heart of London. Our aim is to offer both die-hard anime fans and classical music lovers a fresh experience," said Sophie Poteratchi, Founder & Violinist of City String Ensemble.
