The first quarter of 2007 has now been and gone (doesn’t time fly?), so now with the help of the guys and girls at Tokyopop we going to take a hard look at what’s coming during the spring and summer months of 2007.
Sorry, no barrel rolls or hunting of ham sandwiches this time. Though we did nuke the Tokyopop spy satellite out of orbit after we finished hacking into their servers…
Also don’t forget to stay tuned to UKA for reviews of all of these upcoming titles.
April
Kingdom Hearts – Chain of Memories
Age: A – All Ages
One of the big releases for April comes in the form of the continuing Kingdom Hearts saga. With the manga now finished with the first game, the second game (in the storyline continuity) appears with Kingdom Hearts – Chain of Memories.
The story continues to follow the group of Sora, Goofy and Donald as they make their way through Castle Oblivion to try and find their friends, trapped behind the door of Kingdom Hearts. The trio needs to take on the mysterious Organization XIII and unlock the secrets of Castle Oblivion.
For those wanting to know as much as possible about Kingdom Hearts, but missed out on the GBA game, this is a nice easy way to catch up on the story and not have to hunt on eBay for the elusive cart.
TRASH
Age: OT – Older Teen 18+
Will Anderson is the nephew of the modern-day Al Capone. He lives in New York, goes to a ritzy private school, and dotes on his charming little cousin Kate. Until one day, when he runs into a man and his pet penguin (EVA doesn’t have the monopoly on pet penguins) in Central Park. Suddenly Will is swept up into the business of the Trash Company, an odd-jobs outfit whose main work tends to involve stolen jewels and a whole lot of trouble!
The lesson here, never trust a man with a penguin.
My Dead Girlfriend
Age: T – Teen 13+
Your family are ghosts, but you’re still part of the living world, much to your mother’s dismay. Because as you know, your mother wants nothing more than to see you kick it. Problem is, you can’t die easily. Now you’ve fallen for someone who is also a ghost, its time to roll up your sleeves and throw yourself headlong into love… and a bus.
If you haven’t guessed, My Dead Girlfriend is a romantic comedy where love isn’t stopped by a little thing called death… or the Grim Ripper… or, well, sanity. Not a traditional manga, but an interesting idea non the less.
May
Shrine of the Morning Mist
Age: T – Teen 13+
Its comedy, its magical girls and it involves things from the other side. Surely a mixture for happy times?
Yuzu would very much like to be a regular girl, but unfortunately for her, she and her sisters are miko at the Asagiri Shrine, and their role is to keep the spirit world in balance. When their cousin Tadahiro arrives, the spirit world becomes out of balance and targets him. When spirits begin to disrupt school, Yuzu is assigned to lead the School Miko Committee, and must recruit assistant miko from her classmates and teach them how to fight the demons.
X-Kai
Age: OT – Older Teen 18+
