Avoid the Royal Wedding by watching romance anime

Written by A. H. on 25 Apr 2011

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past six months or so, you can't have failed to notice that a large percentage of the British population are (or so the media would have us believe) in the grip of Royal Wedding fever, with Friday April 29th bringing about this joyous occasion... and, more importantly, a day off work for most of us.

With the shops shut and the television filled with wall to wall coverage of said event, just what is an anime fan with nothing better to apply their time to supposed to do to relax and have an enjoyable long weekend?  Well, how about getting at least somewhat into the swing of the loved-up excitement gripping the nation by checking out some of the best romance-centric stories that anime has to offer?

To help with such a task, we've picked out ten of our favourite romance-driven anime series, all of which are available in some shape or form in the US or UK.  Some will make you laugh, others will make you cry... some will even make you feel a little queasy I would imagine.  Nonetheless, each of these series have something unique to offer their particular genres, so grab yourself some tissues and a bottle of booze and check out our recommendations over the following pages.
