Here at UKA we always get particularly excited about the release of new cards for our favourite Cardfight Vanguard clan – Bermuda Triangle. What’s not to love about cute mermaid characters with special powers? So it was great to get the chance to take a look at the new Schokolade Melody Trial Deck and to top off the excitement it turned out that the deck is also themed around chocolates!
This is a deck designed for the newest iteration of the game and is the 8th trial deck in this series, the first for Bermuda Triangle. The deck contains three of the new ‘Imaginary Gift’ cards – two of these are the generic design and one showing a deck-specific image of ‘Choco Love Heart, Lislotte’. These cards are for using the ‘Force’ power. As always, the deck contains a play-mat and rules to help you get going, but if you’re a beginner you and an opponent both need a full deck.
The complete content of the deck is:

As we would expect, the designs for these characters are incredibly cute and beautifully drawn – all mermaid characters. The colour pallet isn’t as bold as some decks, with a lot of pastel shades. Four of the cards are also beautiful hologram cards (see the starred cards above).
The powers of the various cards vary, as always, but common themes include abilities allowing you to draw additional cards and powers that boost other cards during combat. One of the more unusual abilities is that of the ‘Choco Love Heart, Liselotte’ card which is level 2 but can be played as a grade 1. Also, when placed, it allows you to look at the top card of your deck and call it to your Rear-guard or into your soul. Bermuda Triangle has always been about swapping cards around, and as such it's recommended to players with a solid understanding of Vanguard rather than beginners.
As with most trial decks, there are no rare cards, although I am sure some of the designs will remain exclusive to the trial deck. We look forward to seeing what cards can be added to this deck from the Primary Melody booster pack!
