Voice Actress Yoko Kawanami Dies At 67

The voice behind Ms. Yamabuki, Coconna, and Bulma's mother dies from peritoneal metastasis.

On March 27, 2025, Aoni Production released a statement regarding the passing of Yoko Kawanami, one of its veteran voice talents.

The report posted on the studio's official website is as follows:

Yoko Kawanami (age 67), a member of our company who has been recuperating from illness for some time, passed away on March 18 (Reiwa 7) due to peritoneal metastasis for which no medication is effective.

We want to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude for the kindness shown to us during her lifetime.

Furthermore, per the wishes of the bereaved family, the wake and funeral were held only for close relatives.

We apologize for the late notice.

Kawanami was born on April 22, 1957, and is best known for voicing Midori Yamabuki in "Dr. Slump & Arale-chan", Coconna Vartia in the Armored Trooper VOTOMS OVAs, Dream Warrior Wingman's Yume Aoi, and Bulma's mother starting at Dragon Ball Z episode 124, taking over the role from Hiroko Emori.
