Netflix has posted a page for Violet Evergarden on it's UK website here.
The series is based on the award winning light novel series written by Kana Akatsuki and character designs by Akikio Takase. Winner of the grand prize in the Fifth Kyoto Animation Awards for best novel.
The television series by Kyoto Animation is due to air in Japan in January 2018, therefore it's logical to assume that the series is being simulcast in the UK by Netflix.
The series is directed by Taishi Ishidate (Beyond the Boundary) with a screenplay by Reiko Toshida (Kaleido Star, Girls und Panzer). The singer Miho Karasawa (who goes by the stage name True) will perform the opening song entitled Sincerely.
The light novel stories centre around Auto Memory Dolls, which were initially created by a scientist to help his blind wife write her novels. The idea was used by another group to fulfil the same tasks, but with the ability to perform military functions. One such doll, retired from war, wishes to know the meaning of "certain words" she received from another soldier while participating in the war.
Synopsis:
The war is over, and Violet Evergarden needs a job. Scarred and emotionless, she takes a job as a letter writer to understand herself and her past.
