With the year marking the 25th anniversary of the oft-controversial Excel Saga, Skinny E Media and UKA editor Ross Locksley discuss the anime that created an ending too extreme for TV (at the time), what made the series so popular in its day and how it stands up in a modern culture. With some controversial themes and characters there's plenty to discuss and it's a series that could never be replicated in its entirety today.

For all that, we've grappled with its impact, how Excel Saga's DNA infused other projects and why the creators had to be so smart to make a series so stupid:
