After a small flurry of announcements late last week, this week promises to bring us plenty more from publisher Seven Seas Entertainment, and as a result they certainly started their week with a bang in the form of another two title acquisitions, one of which is a very pleasant surprise to us here in the UK Anime office:
Perfect Blue - Seven Seas Entertainment is proud to announce the license acquisition of the two Perfect Blue novels by Yoshikazu Takeuchi, the first of which was the inspiration for Satoshi Kon’s animated film masterpiece.
These psychological thrillers deal with the haunting price of fame. Perfect Blue: Complete Metamorphosis is the novel upon which Satoshi Kon based his Perfect Blue animated film, focusing on pop idol Mima Kirigoe’s move into an acting career and the sinister forces around her–including a trail of shocking murders–that push her into her own fragmented reality. Seven Seas will also be releasing the additional Perfect Blue: Awaken from a Dream novel with a completely separate plot, for readers eager for more psychological drama from Yoshikazu Takeuchi.
The first of these two novels is set for release on 12th December 2017, with the second book to follow on 24th April 2018.
Nirvana - Seven Seas Entertainment is pleased to announce the license acquisition of the Nirvana manga series by Jin and Sayuki (ZOWLS), a magical adventure series by the artist of the Mikagura School Suite manga!
Yachiyo Hitotose has always strived to be helpful, sacrificing her time and energy to follow in her mother’s footsteps. While traveling overseas to become a relief volunteer, Yachiyo’s plane crashes–and she suddenly awakens in a world of magic and mysticism. In a realm where reincarnations and fate dictate the lives of those within it, Yachiyo is hailed as a goddess against the forces of evil…and a mysterious keepsake from her mother may be the key to saving everyone.
The series will be released as single volume editions, starting from 8th August 2017.
