Crunchyroll have announced that Pscyho Pass: Providence will be making its way to UK cinemas.
Psycho Pass has been a fan-favourite franchise since it first aired in 2013. In a world where crime is kept under control by the AI Sibyl system, it's the tale of how the peace is kept in a totalitarian system by an elite group of enforcers armed with incredibly powerful Dominator handguns (which are very cool indeed!)
Produced as part of the series' 10th anniversary, it bridges the gap between the previous film trilogy (Sinners of the System) and series 3 of the anime, the new film finds Akane and Shinya reunite to take on a paramilitary organisation called "The Peace Breakers" who have started to operate inside Japan. The discovery of information designed to take down the Sibyl system itself, known as the Stronskaya Documents, lends a new level of urgency to proceedings.
Released on May 12th in Japan, the film is to be rolled out worldwide by Crunchyroll. As soon as we have the UK dates, we'll post them here.
Official Synopsis:
January 2118. Chief Inspector of the Criminal Investigation Department, Akane Tsunemori, receives a report of an incident on a foreign vessel – the body of Professor Milicia Stronskaya has been discovered. Behind the incident is a group known as the Peacebreakers, a foreign paramilitary organization and a new outside threat who are targeting the professor’s research papers known as the “Stronskaya Document”.
Reunited with Shinya Kogami, a former fugitive from the Criminal Investigation Department, Akane grapples with a case that quickly escalates beyond their expectations. The Stronskaya Papers could reveal a truth that would shake Japan's government, and even the Sibyl System, to the core.
It is in this untold story that the missing link is revealed.
