Power Rangers star Jason Frank dies at age 49

Written by Ross Locksley on 20 Nov 2022

Tragic news today as Jason Frank, known by fans around the world as the Green Power Ranger Tommy Oliver, has died at the age of 49.

Despite only being cast for 14 episodes of the original series, he proved so popular that he was brought back to play the White Ranger and remained with the show until 1997. He once again returned to the franchise in 2002, and made sporadic appearances in later iterations, including the 2017 feature film as a citizen of Angel Grove.

A talented mixed martial artist, he studied many forms and developed his own signature style which he named "Toso Kune Do". He was inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame on 28th June 2008.

He leaves behind two sons, Hunter & Jacob and two daughters, Jenna & Skye.

As an actor, he was pivotal to making Power Rangers a hit, and more broadly introducing the world to a Japanese cultural phenomenon. He leaves a huge legacy behind, and we wish his family well following this tragic event.
