Celsys (Clip Studio Paint) and Japanese art site Pixiv (with an astonishing 98 million users) are once again teaming up to create the New Global Comic Awards for comic and manga creators worldwide, with cash prizes on offer as well as a chance to debut in the industry.
The Global Comic Awards expand upon the International Comic/Manga School Contest that was held between 2018 and 2023. This time around, there is no focus on schools and the competition is open to all creators for the first time.
From the Press Release:
By collaborating with art hosting platforms, Celsys will encourage artists to make their debut and present their creations. This first edition of the contest is jointly hosted by pixiv Inc, a platform with more than 98 million users in 230 countries and regions around the world, with the hope that participating artists can have their artworks seen by many.
Open to all ages, the contest is accepting comic, manga, and webtoon submissions on pixiv from today. The contest includes an open category and a “Time” theme category." 35 Japanese and international companies in the comic industry are supporting the contest and will view participating entries.
Prize winners will have chances to have their entries published in sponsors’ media outlets. In addition, US$3,300 in prize money will be granted to the overall Grand Prize (1 person), as well as cash prizes for the Theme Category Award (1 person), Open Category Award (1 person), and Excellence awards (10 people).
