MVM have started the new year with a bang, announcing some new and classic anime series for home release in 2025. Probably the biggest surprise is that they've snagged the license to the popular Urusei Yatsura remake - this brings back memories as I authored the extras disc for one of their film releases about 20 years ago!
Let's have a look at what's on the menu for the new year?
The Chained Soldier S1
Known in Japan as Mato Seihei no Slave, the series follows an attack on the Earth by monsters from the Mato dimensions who are fought by young women with superhuman powers. Yuuki Wakura is drawn into the conflict when he joins forces with Chief Kyouka Uzen as her servant both at home and the battlefield. The 12 episode season 1 will be released on Blu Ray.
Kamisama Kiss S1 & S2 Collector's Edition & Kamisama Kiss S1 Blu Ray
A classic from the 90's, Kamisama Kiss follows the unluck Nanami Momzono, burdened with her father's gambling debt, she loses everything and becomes homeless, but retains a kind heart regardless. A chance encounter with man named Mikage, whom she saves from an angry dog, sees her take up residence in his shrine - heaven's rewards, it seems, could be boundless...
Urusei Yatsura Series (Remake)
Rumiko Takahashi's classic romantic alien invasion comedy sees luckless Ataru Moroboshi the target of Princess Lum's amorous alien intent, and despite being a prolific letch, seems immune to her obvious charms. The two season remake receeived much praise and ended on a sweet note - now you'll be able to place it on the shelf!
