MVM Announce Neia under 7 license acquisition

Written by Ross Locksley on 08 Jun 2023

MVM have announced via their twitter account a new license; Niea_7, featuring the distinctive character designs of Yoshitoshi ABe (Serial Experiments Lain, Haibane Renmei).

Originally a doujin series created by ABe and printed by Shōnen magazine Monthly Ace, the TV series comprises 13 episodes and ran from April 2000 to July of the same year.

Synopsis:

Set in a retro-future, Mayuko Chigasaki is a high school graduate studying at cram school over the summer. Staying in a rundown countryside bath-house with no customers, Chigasaki has to share the place with Niea, a low-class alien that's shunned by other aliens for her lack of antenna. So begins a tale of a misplaced city-girl and a social outcast, dealing with the day-to-day drama of estrangement, discrimination and finding your way in life.

Discotek Media picked up the license in 2018, so it's likely we're getting this version of the show when MVM release it later this year.
