Kamehacon UK cancelled

Written by Russell Phillips on 06 May 2019

The official twitter page for the upcoming UK Dragonball themed convention Kameha Con UK have released a statement citing their intent to cancel the convention until further notice.

Their statement is as follows:

"After much consideration, Kameha Con UK has been canceled indefinitely. This was not an easy decision, but due to recent events within the fandom, we have decided this is for the best. Refunds at the time of this notice have already been processed automatically.

All refunds should take up to 5-7 business days to process. As with any refund, funds may take an additional time frame to hit your account depending on your financial institution. If you have any questions please message our page directly. kamehacon.co.uk

We would like to quickly note, though our decision comes on the back of recent events within the fandom. This is not due to fans directly. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, we hope that it only grows stronger and better than ever!"

While the reasons for the cancellation were not stated, it has been noted that the convention, which was to be held at the Bowlers Event Centre in Manchester in August of this year, had cancelled plans in Febuary to invite DB voice actor Vic Mignogna. Mr Mignogna is currently taking legal action against Funimation, voice actors Jamie Marchie and Monica Rial, as well as Ms Rial's fiance Ron Toye for defamation and accusations of innapropriate sexual behaviour.
