Netflix has announced that the next season of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure will be released on December 1st.

The streaming giant revealed that the first 12 episodes of the Stone Ocean saga will be released simultaneously, debunking rumours that the series would receive a weekly or monthly release format.

The announcement has been met with mixed reception online – many fans are excited to finally have a release date to look forward to, but some have voiced their opposition to Netflix’s “all-in-one” approach.

“I can’t picture JoJo without the weekly experience,” said one Twitter user.

Another described the original release schedule as “one of the best parts of Friday”.

There will likely still be more Stone Ocean to look forward to after these first 12 episodes, however, as its manga counterpart spans a total of 17 volumes. This is as many as the previous instalment, Golden Wind, whose anime adaptation ran for 39 episodes.

The Stone Ocean story arc follows Jolyne Cujoh – daughter of recurring JoJo protagonist Jotaro – as she is wrongfully incarcerated in a Florida prison, and encounters a new cast of powerful Stand Users during her time behind bars.

Jolyne will be voiced by Fairouz Ai, who previously starred in How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift? and Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean will debut exclusively on Netflix worldwide – including the UK – before receiving a TV broadcast in Japan in January 2022.
