Japanese Golden Age season at the Garden Cinema

Japanese Golden Age season at the Garden Cinema

Written by Richard Durrance on 20 Feb 2024

For those interested in some genuinely historic Japanese cinema, the Garden Cinema in London from February 22nd until May, is showing a selection of films spanning from the 1940s to the early 1960s.

Currently only a number of films have been slated, but it will grow over the months, including showings by the Big Three: Kurosawa, Ozu, Mizoguchi, and branching out more widely with films by Mikio Naruse, Kinuyo Tanaka (whose season at the BFI was excellent) and Keisuke Kinoshita. And who else? We'll find out in the fullness of time...

Want to know more? Well head over to the dedicated page on their website.

About Richard Durrance

Long-time anime dilettante and general lover of cinema. Obsessive re-watcher of 'stuff'. Has issues with dubs. Will go off on tangents about other things that no one else cares about but is sadly passionate about. (Also, parentheses come as standard.) Looks curiously like Jo Shishido, hamster cheeks and all.
