In a surprisingly quiet Otakon in Baltimore for new anime acquisition announcements, it was left to FUNimation Entertainment to lead the way in announcing a whole plethora of new licenses.
Of most interest to UK fans will probably be a pair of film announcements, with the distributor announcing that the 2012 Strike Witches Movie will be coming to the US, as will the Steins;Gate film Loading Area of Déjà vu (which we've reviewed thanks to a theatrical screening right here, incidentally). No doubt UK fans will be hoping to see both of these movies make the leap over to our shores in the future.
Also picked up by the company are a number of former Bandai Entertainment titles, including Lucky Star, both seasons of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and both The Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya and Nyoron Churuya-san comic shorts.
Finally, home video rights have been added to existing streaming rights for a number of FUNimation series, namely BlazBlue Alter Memory, D-Frag!, Freezing Vibration, Riddle Story of Devil and Unbreakable Machine Doll.
There's no format or release date information for any of these titles, but we'll be keeping our eyes peeled - will you be hoping to see any of these offerings hit the UK?
