Crunchyroll announce God of High School with launch trailer

Crunchyroll have unveiled another of their Originals series, this time it's the WEBTOON comic  series God of High School by Korean artist Yongje Park.

Voice talent will include Ayaka Ohash (Idolm@ster) , Kentaro Kumagai (Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans) and relative newcomer Tatsumara Tachibana.

From the Press Release:

It's the story of a secondary school pupil and his friends who borrow power from the Gods as they take part in an epic martial arts tournament called God of High School.

It is one of the first webtoons cartoons to be translated into English.

Sixteen-year-old Jin Mori, a brilliant taekwondo artist is invited to join the God of High School tournament by one of the judges. He is joined by Yoo Mira who is looking for a husband and Han Daewi who wants to win in order to be able to pay a sick friend's medical bills.

The series airs on Crunchyroll in July 2020.

  • Jin Mori will be the breakout leading role for Tatsumaru Tachibana, who has previously worked mostly on stage.
  • Director Sunghoo Park previously worked on GARO - VANISHING LINE- in addition to Yuri!!! on ICE and Terror in Resonance.
  • Character design is by Akita Manabu who has worked on titles including Kakegurui, Terror in Resonance, Kids on the Slope and Rage of Bahamut.
  • The God of High School is based on the WEBTOON comic created by Yongje Park.
  • Animation is produced by MAPPA.
