Crunchyroll's High Guardian Spice Trailer revealed at Virtual Expo

Written by Ross Locksley on 09 Aug 2021

Crunchyroll have finally released a trailer for the controversial Original Anime, High Guardian Spice.

The series, which was created by their Ellation Studio, caused a storm of protest on release, partly thanks to the initial trailer which spent more time touting the polictially correct credentials of the studio than the series itself. Designed and animated by a team of women under the leadership of Margaret Dean (President of Women in Animation), the original trailer had comments and likes disabled. Many fans objected to Crunchyroll using subscriptions to compete with the Japanese studios they thought they were supporting.

The show concentrates on 4 friends training to be Guardians at a magic academy, and it appears to be a cross between Little Witch Academia and Harry Potter.

The good news is that the new trailer gives a much better indication of the show's quality, and you can judge that for yourself below.
