Award-winning short Bookworm from Javier YaƱez now available on Youtube

Good news for horror fans as Los Angeles horror festival Screamfest have uploaded Javier Yañez's multi-award winning short film Bookworm to their Youtube channel. 

Selected 136 times and recipient of 34 awards, this is the seventh film by the Spanish director and adapts the original manga of the same name from Amagappa Shoujogun, It was included in an anthology of horror stories called Dead Angle, compiled by industry legend Junji Ito.

With this short film, Javier Yáñez consolidates his position as a reference in the genre of horror films in which he has previously contributed with Equals (2019), La Perrera (2017), Amor Sacro (2011) and A través del Ocaso (2009), which are already available to watch online at: https://cargocollective.com/jyanez.

Bookworm is the director's third adaptation of a Japanese manga. The two previous ones, Equals (2019) and Mighty Boy (2013), are based on short stories by manga artists of great success in Japan and internationally, such as Shun Umezawa -author of the renowned series The Darwin Incident- and Naoki Urasawa -author of mythical series such as Monster, 20th Century Boys or Pluto.

Actress Aria Bedmar -also starring in Paco Plaza's recent Sister Death- shines in her role as the Librarian. She is well accompanied by Flora López, Andrea Guardiola, Manuel Tejera, Raúl Granell and Elsa Hernández.

Synopsis:
Spain, 1979. Irene is a budding writer obsessed with the ethereal ghost haunting the library where she works, its presence looming ominously over every page she writes.
