A Look At Manga Distribution Site Coolmic

Written by Eoghan O'Connell on 10 Mar 2025

When I was sitting down to talk to Coolmic, I was expecting something similar to the back and forth Q&A that I had with OceanVeil recently. Therefore, I was quite taken aback when I got a presentation instead, answering most of the questions that I’d submitted beforehand. As I sat there, perhaps a tad awkwardly to my shame, I pondered how I’d tackle this article and I ultimately decided that it should be a feature since I was given a wealth of information about Coolmic, their history as well as some of their most popular titles!

What is Coolmic?

Coolmic is a website run by WWWave Corporation that distributes both their original content and third-party content to English-speaking and French-speaking audiences. Much of this content is created for and distributed by ComicFesta and AnimeFesta in Japan, other divisions of WWWave Corporation, with Coolmic itself only having been established in 2018 with around 100 manga titles. Since then, Coolmic has seen consistent growth with an estimated 3 million registered users in the English-speaking market as of today! Their catalogue of titles has also expanded with over 4000 titles currently available, around 1300 of which is produced by the WWWave Corporation themselves. In 2019, they also began selling anime series that were subbed only but have, within the past year, begun releasing English dub versions as well.

Taking a Look at their Content

While there is some variety in their content when it comes to genres, there are a few that stand out in particular. About 1100 of their titles are BL (Boy’s Love) while around 1000 are mature romance. In contrast, their GL (Girl’s Love) manga consist of only around 40 titles while adolescent series fare a little better with about 100 titles available. As you might imagine, this is reflected in their audience with over half being aged between 18-30 and a little over half identifying as female. When you first enter the site, you are met with the all ages (all ages here seeming to mean not mature) titles first and you must pass through age verification before you are able to see their adult titles.

Their Most Popular Titles

Coolmic was gracious enough to share with me what their most popular titles were and I must admit to being a little surprised at how oddly specific and graphic some of the titles were! The most popular mature manga during their initial year, that being 2018, was called “What She Fell on Was The Tip of My Dick” while 2019, 2020 and 2022’s was “My Brother’s Slipped Inside Me in The Bathtub (Overflow)”. 2021 broke this streak with “Fucking My Niece at the Girls’ Pajama Party” while the most popular mature manga of 2023 and 2024 was “My First Time Is with…My Little Sister!?”. I must admit that I was a little tickled by how matter of fact they were presented but it was also fascinating to see what series draw people to the service. Due to some of the imagery, I will not be including an image of these most popular manga within this feature but I will include images of the most popular titles in BL, Mature Romance and Romance for both the sake of brevity (this article could grow excessively lengthy if I were to cover each individually) and for those interested in these genres.

(2018, Prostitution by Beasts - Bear My Child) (2019, Pregnant in a Boys' School) (2020, 2022, The Titan's Bride) (2021, 2023, Fucked by My Best Friend) (2024, Friends, Engaged)

Anime on Coolmic and its Future

Their anime section is notably much more sparse compared to their manga with the majority of titles appearing to be adaptations of their own manga which have short runtimes of about 6-7 minutes per episode. However, it does seem that they’ve very recently begun releasing third-party titles such as Wife Stealing, Hitozuma Life: One Time Gal and Netoraserare. Considering the upcoming release of OceanVeil, a streaming service that will also be run by WWWave Corporation, I felt it prudent to ask whether the anime would be transitioning over or if it would remain available. Their first response was to reassure people that they would continue to sell everything on Coolmic and that by purchasing an anime, it will remain in your library even if the anime gets withdrawn from sale, in contrast to a streaming service like OceanVeil where, once a show is withdrawn, you cannot get access to it anymore. Interestingly, Coolmic has also made the decision going forward not to promote their anime releases outside of banners on Coolmic itself as well as newsletters so as not to compete with OceanVeil.

(2018, 25-Year-Old High School Girl, I Wouldn't Do This with a Kid) (2019, Fire in His Fingertips) (2020, Beastly Boss is My Neighbor) (2021, Suspect Alpha (α) X Detective Omega (Ω)) (2022, 2023, Fated Pleasure: Alpha & Omega) (2024, Sandwiched by the Inukai Brothers' Sweet, Intense Love)

Coolmic’s Monetisation - The Ticket System

Something that stood out to me immediately with Coolmic was their system of monetisation. Unlike a lot of other websites, you don’t directly purchase the manga and anime available for sale. Instead, you acquire tickets and use these to buy the content instead. This seemed a little strange to me so I thought I’d ask why Coolmic adopted this system in the first place. The answer comes back to the content available during the initial release, that being about 100 titles, and concerns that a typical subscription model would result in people consuming the content too quickly and cancelling their subscriptions. This resulted in a system where people could buy packs of tickets, with bonus tickets the more you spend, which can then be spent on manga to read and, later, anime to watch. The base price of a ticket comes out to about $0.10 and Coolmic has recently enabled people to pay for a monthly subscription which provides a number of tickets on a monthly basis.

(2018, What Subaru Sarashina Says Goes!) (2019, 2020, Thank You for Erecting to Me) (2021, Why Would You Get Hard Over Me, Your Boss?) (2022, Good-bye Secret Slut Life) (2023, Making Love in a World Where It's Taboo) (2024, Sacrificed to Be the Beast King's Bride)

Recommendations For First Time Visitors

Considering the possibility that some people reading this article will want to check out Coolmic for the first time, I thought I’d ask Coolmic for some recommendations. With regards to their mature titles, they’d recommend first time visitors to check out both the manga and anime version of My Brother’s Slipped Inside Me in The Bathtub (Overflow). For their BL recommendation, I admit to being a little surprised by the image they provided, that being the manga and anime of Fucked by My Best Friend as it seems to depict a guy and a girl although, upon doing some light research, it turns out that the girl is actually a male who has been turned into a woman after being drugged. Finally, they’d recommend that those looking for romance seek out The Heat of the Reincarnated Villainess.

To conclude, I would like to thank Coolmic for giving me this opportunity and for all of the info that they provided. In addition to their website, you can also follow their socials on Instagram, Discord, Bluesky and X.
