Crunchyroll has announced that the classic Gundam 0079 series is coming to Crunchyroll. The series was released n Funimation last year, and this looks like the first series "crossover" between the two brands now that they live under one roof.

From the Press Release:

Mobile Suit Gundam 0079, the classic first series in the iconic Gundam franchise, airs on Crunchyroll from today.

All 42 episodes will be dubbed in English, with a subtitled version also available, and will complement the 10+ Gundam titles that are already on the streaming platform.

Mobile Suit Gundam was created by Yoshiyuki Tomino and first aired in 1979. It has since become a global phenomenon, grossing more than $20 billion in retail sales (Gunplas make up 90% of the Japanese character plastic-model market) and is famous for giving rise to the popularity of robots as mobile suits and weapons of war, manned by ordinary pilots.

The series is set in the Universal Century 0079 according to the Gundam calendar where there is a stalemate between Earth and Zeon in a war of independence. But now, Earth has a revolutionary new weapon, the RX-79 Gundam, a new type of mobile suit that falls into the hands of a group of civilians. As a result, an antisocial lad called Amuro Ray, who is more comfortable with machines than fellow humans, suddenly finds himself at the controls of the white mobile suit Gundam.
