Sony to launch new Sacra Music label

Promoting "anisong" artists in Japan and abroad

Written by A. H. on 09 Jan 2017

While we're now relatively well-served when it comes to avalability of anime, manga, light novels and even visual novels in the west, one area where easy availability has still been spotty for western fans is in the realms of anime music, where picking up a copy of your favourite anime theme or soundtrack has often proven impossible without resorting to expensive imports.

Perhaps 2017 will be the year that this situation begins to change, and with that in mind we're particularly interested to see news of a new label emerge from Sony Music Entertainment Japan.

The label in question is called SACRA MUSIC, and has a firm emphasis on so-called "anisong" performers. While the label is firmly based in Japan, part of its mission statement is also firmly focused upon ensuring that artists under the label reach a wider worldwide audience, promising overseas song releases, live performances and more besides.

The following artists are currently signed to the label:

- ClariS
- EGOIST
- ELISA
- GARNiDELiA
- Hanazawa Kana
- Hiroyuki Sawano [nZk]
- Kalafina
- LiSA
- Luna Haruna
- Mashiro Ayano
- PENGUIN RESEARCH
- Tomohisa Sako
- TrySail
- TSUKICRO

We'll certainly be keeping a close eye on the progress of this label once it launches officially this April to see whether it can make good on bringing more anime music and artists to the UK. For the time being, you can read a little more on the label over at WOW Japan.
