It's a sad but inevitable fact of modern life that at some point your data is likely to fall into the hands of others, with web site still frequently suffering attacks which lead to data being leaked en masse from various online services.
Yesterday, security web site Have I Been Pwned confirmed that in July 2016, Funimation Entertainment suffered a data breach which led to the leak of 2.5 million accounts from their systems, with the data comprising usernames, e-mail addresses, dates of birth and protected password hashes.
There are no details of where precisely this data leak originated, and whether it affects subscribers to the FunimationNow UK service specifically, but as always in these matters it's best to be diligent and change any passwords on accounts that you believe may be affected - directly or indirectly - by this breach of data. It's also worth noting that no credit card details are reported as having been stolen as part of this breach, so there's no need to cancel or change any cards at this time.
You can find more of the details on this breach here, while the Have I Been Pwned web site allows you to search using e-mail addresses attached to you to confirm whether those addresses have been tied to any known data breaches in the site's system.
