It has been a busy Friday at the first day of MCM London and Anime Limited have given us some epic news on some of their home video releases in the first of their panels.
Firstly, for those of you at MCM London, Anime Limited confirmed that their yet-to-be-available-for-pre-order series Re-Zero is available at their booths in the North and South halls. Stock is extremely limited!
Anime Limited have released details on their release for Kiznaiver, a series produced by Studio Trigger and Mari Okada (Anthem of the Heart, Maquia: When the Promised Flowers Bloom).
Synopsis: “Even within the confines of the futuristic Sugomori City, Katsuhira Agata is a very unique high school boy – someone who simply cannot feel any pain whatsoever. Bullied and isolated, his world is set to shift seismically when he meets a strange girl named Noriko Sonozaki. Before he knows it, Agata has been linked to a number of his classmates as part of a group created to share any pain each of them feels via a system known as “Kiznaiver”. Tasked with various trials by Sonozaki as they serve as guinea pigs under the Kiznaiver system, could Agata and his new comrades’ experiences be the key to their own self-discovery?”
This home video release is presented within a rather pretty limited edition case, which we expect from Anime Limited’s collectors editions, and comes with an AlltheAnime.com exclusive art book if you buy direct from them.
One of our favourite films of 2017 is finally coming to our shores in the form of a home video release and craftily, Anime Limited have decided to continue teasing us with news of this until tomorrow morning. Dammit Andy!
Onto some other news and Anime Limited have announced their acquisition of Amanchu! Season 1 which will be arriving in the UK late 2018 in the form of a limited edition Blu-ray set. This series is one of those happy series which perk you up after a long day of work, so personally there are many of us at UK-Anime.net who are looking forward to this.
Synopsis: “After moving from Tokyo to a small seaside town, 15 year-old Futaba is captivated by the ocean views and the vast expanse of water which she finds laid out before her. Unbeknownst to her, Futaba’s fascination is shared by Hikari, who has lived in the town her entire life, and the two girl’s lives intermingle unexpectedly when the introverted Futaba meets the outgoing and exuberant Hikari as one of her new classmates.
Before she knows it, a whole new world is opened up to Futaba – a sparkling, shimmering world that exists under the sea, as her new-found friend helps her confront her fears and anxieties through the form of scuba diving.
As her circle of friends grows, and with her confidence burgeoning, so Futaba finds the strength and self-assuredness to grow and develop with the support of those around her in this quietly touching and charming tale of friendship and finding yourself, lovingly animated by Production I.G.”
Anime Limited have gone Gundam-mad and following their recent release of Mobile Suit Gundam : The Origin I – IV they are now looking to bring both Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky, and the classic Mobile Suit Gundam 00 in its entirety including both seasons one and two, the film and the OVA.
For those (like me) who know nothing about Gundam other than it involving shiny robots, here are the synopses.
Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky Synopsis: “Their war has not yet ended… It is Universal Century 0079, at the end of the One Year War between the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon. The space colonies of Side 4, or Moore, were previously destroyed by a Zeon attack, and many colonists lost their lives. Side 4 became a shoal zone filled with the wreckage of destroyed colonies and warships, lit by constant flashes of lightning due to collisions between electrified debris. It soon came to be known as the “Thunderbolt Sector.”
The Moore Brotherhood, an Earth Federation Forces unit made up of surviving citizens from Moore, set out to exterminate the Zeon forces in the Thunderbolt Sector in order to reclaim their homeland. To halt the Federation advance, the Zeon forces deployed their own Living Dead Division, which was established to collect combat data on soldiers with prosthetic limbs.
Io Fleming, though part of the Moore Brotherhood, hates being tied down by his homeland and family history. Daryl Lorenz, having lost his legs in earlier battles, is now an ace sniper of the Living Dead Division. When they confront each other on the battlefield, they will reach a mutual realization. These two are destined to kill each other.”
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Synopsis: “The year is 2307 A.D. While the Earth’s reserves of fossil fuels have been depleted, humanity has obtained a new, nearly infinite source of energy to replace them in the form of large-scale solar-powered generation systems based on three huge orbital elevators. However, the benefits of this system are available only to a handful of major powers and their allies.
These orbital elevators belong to three superpower blocs: the Union, the Human Reform League and the AEU. These confederations continue to play a grand zero-sum game for the sake of their own prestige and prosperity. Thus, even in the 24th Century, humanity has yet to unite as one.
In this world of unceasing conflict, a private armed organization steps forward, declaring their intention to eliminate war through martial force. Using the power of their mobile suits combatively, a series of four high-performance machines each dubbed “Gundam,” the paramilitary organization known as Celestial Being takes the world stage, beginning armed interventions within all the world’s nations.”
Following on from the drama which Funimation and Crunchyroll have brought to our licenses and releases, Anime Limited have once again acquired the home video rights to Sound! Euphonium Season 1 and will be coming to our shores in the form of a UK Limited Edition Blu-ray release. However, Anime Limited are key to stress that for now, they only have the rights to Season 1. Season 2 is still an unknown. This release is due out by the end of 2018.
While not an anime, but this is instead a documentary about one of the greatest directors in the industry, Hayao Miyazaki. This documentary is brought to us by NHK who documented his return to the industry following retirement and brings to light the creative process and the evolution of the master as he worked to deliver Studio Ghibli’s final works.
A date is not provided for this as yet, but this work is definitely one to keep an eye out for those of you who are keen to learn more about this great man and the production process.
We want to thank Anime Limited for another exciting panel and we wish that we were able to be there today.
UK-Anime.net will be on hand for the rest of the weekend to document Days 2 and 3 of MCM and we look forward to seeing you there.

Seb has been an anime fan since the late 90s and is particularly fond of anything post-apocalyptic, amusing, catgirly, ecchi or containing exquisite aerial battles. Living in Leeds with his cats and living up the bachelor life, Seb enjoys whiling the nights away deep in a book, game or a damn good series.
