Animax UK streaming site closing in October

Animax UK streaming site closing in October

Written by Russell Phillips on 15 Sep 2018

In a surprise announcement, Sony's anime streaming site Animax announced through both their website and newsletter that they would be closing the UK streaming site on October 15th of this year, ending 5 years of service.

While subscribers have been told, in the same announcement, that they would receive a promotional code to gain a £5 discount on a 3-month subscription to Funimation Now, which is also owned by Sony after their buyout of the US based anime company in October of last year.

There doesn't seem to be any plan to actually transfer an Animax account directly over to Funimation - meaning that if you have a standing subscription, or have just started one, you're out of pocket!
