The 14th instalment of Japan Expo took place at the Parc Des Expositions adjacent to the infamous Paris Charles De Gaulle airport between the dates of the 4th and 7th July 2013.
With an attendance of over 200,000 in the years leading up to 2013, and the figures for 2013 looking like to emulate or exceed those previous events Japan Expo is, and will likely remain, Europe’s largest comic convention and gathering of anime and manga fandom.
However, compare this to the UK's largest expo, currently the MCM Comic Con which occurs bi-annually in London which boasts "only" 70,000 visitors at a time, what is an event of this scale actually like and what it has to offer to those of us in the UK who crave something bigger? We sent two of our intrepid explorers to hunt down the bargains, sit through hours of events, photograph many beautiful people, and report back on what it is to attend the Japan Expo.
Seb has been an anime fan since the late 90s and is particularly fond of anything post-apocalyptic, amusing, catgirly, ecchi or containing exquisite aerial battles. Living in Leeds with his cats and living up the bachelor life, Seb enjoys whiling the nights away deep in a book, game or a damn good series.
