As part of their MCM London Comic Con panel, Anime Ltd announced that COLORFUL STAGE! The Movie: A Miku Who Can't Sing is coming to UK cinemas this summer. The film is based on the game Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage created by Colorful Palette and released by SEGA

The film is directed by Hiroyuki Hata (Gintama: The Movie) and written by Yoko Yonaiyama (A Sign of Affection). P.A Works are the studio behind the film.

UPDATE 19/07/25

The film is confirmed as showing on Thursday 28th August at London's BFI IMAX cinema, ahead of the wider release on August 31st.

Synopsis:

"Tell me more... about you. Maybe then... I will know how to sing."

Ichika Hoshino hears a song by Miku that she has never heard before at a music store. She finds a "Hatsune Miku," who she has never seen before in the TV screen, and says aloud "Miku!?". Although their eyes meet, Miku is startled by Ichika's voice and disappears.

Later, after Ichika finishes her street performance, Miku appears again in Ichika's smartphone. Ichika asks the sad looking Miku what is troubling her and finds out that there are people who Miku wants to deliver her song to, but no matter how much she sings, her voice won't reach them.

After seeing Ichika reach people's hearts with her song, Miku thinks that she can do the same by learning more about Ichika. Ichika smiles and agrees to help. Join Miku and her friends as a new story begins.
