Downloaded it but probably not going to use it. My battery is too precious to get worn out whilst my phones so brand new lol.

For me its a not so easily fixable problem - namely it requires android 4.4 or better to run and my phone only has 4.1 and so far i've had no luck updating the OS - That and im on PAYG.

I downloaded the APK when it first came out so I've had a bit of a play with it.
It's pretty cool but I don't get the obsession. I can't be arsed to go outside and walk around just for this, plus it's nothing like the actual games. If they introduced PROPER training and the old battle system then I'd play the shit out of it, but right now it's pretty meh.

I might try it - but then I used to play Ingres (on which it was based) which was good for getting me out and walking about. As to battery life - you'll find most Ingres players ended up buying battery packs to recharge/top up their phones.

I've captured 20 pokeythings while sat in the office.
The Ingress portal I submitted outside my workplace is a gym over here.

Grabbing from my hospital room as well - just a shame it's such a battery killer, even with a 3mAMP charge block connected.

It's ok, feels like half a game to me, without being able to train/battle them without being near a gym makes it pretty useless when your stationary. Being able to battle someone, in close proximity, like in your own home, even if it's just for fun (non leveling capacity) would go a long way.

got me one of those "powerbank" things so that takes care of the battery issue, but just like manning said i wish there's a way to do things without being close to a gym (not that good at the socializing too so there's also that)

Completely addicted to Pokemon GO! It does significantly reduce battery life and the servers are highly unstable, but I do see great potential here. I think in the future we may expect more options such as trading, pvp battles and actual training (stuffing a creature with a copious amount of candy for it to become more powerful just sounds...weird). The shop will undoubtedly also get filled with more items to purchase with hard-earned real money, such as different outfits and hairstyles. And I think more Pokemon will get added to the game too. These are all speculations of course, but looking at how immensely popular this game is, Niantic/Pokemon Company/Nintendo would be crazy not to add more features.
But they should probably first focus on releasing the game in the actual country Pokemon sprouted from, ha.

Well, I am a bit hooked on the whole collecting thing.

Have discovered the knack to cycling one handed (while being able to safely stop) while activating pokestops. As there are hundreds in Leeds CC, makes is nice and fun to level up.

Discovered that the Leeds and Liverpool Canal is also awesome for hunting. Got 30 pokemon on my cycle to Saltaire the other day. Might have to repeat that this Friday :D

Still not played it yet. Maybe one day I will. People ignore people enough already before that app, lets just say I wouldnt be impressed with someone who started to ignore me mid convo or something cause of some Pokemon nearby lol.

Yeah... its actually good that its a foreground app tbh. Means that it doesn't just go off in your pocket.

Yeah, but the fact its a foreground app also means you can't just go for a walk to hatch some eggs. You have to have it open and draining your battery. My battery life with GO open is less than 2 hours, it devours it. I walked to the pub with it on and it went from 80% to 40%

In my experience I've found Pokemon Go to make people more social - I'm not one to socialise myself but when I see people playing, I don't mind a little chat.

Gonna be in Leeds next week - good to know there's a lot of monsters to be captured there ;)

I hope they get out a fix for the bugs soon. Really tired of popping an incense, and then having the game freeze on every attempted pokemon catch, 4 in a row at one point today.

On the upside, at least incense is free, so no real loss.

Wouldn't mind them redoing the gyms - at present they are useless. I go to one owned by my team and yet there's nothing I can do except attack my own side - which is pretty useless as the die hard players have pokemon with CPs over 800+ - think the lowest I've seen in a local gym was ~820. Think my highest is 320.

Ingres was a lot friendlier, despite being two sides with each location (portal) being a potential combat point.
