We're big fans of Your Name here in UK Anime towers. So much so that we have reviewed its theatrical outings not once, but twice. And thanks to Hollywood it looks like we are going to get another chance!

Paramount and J.J. Abrams are teaming up to adapt the film, which is the highest grossing Japanese film of all time here in the west - beating even the massive breakout hit from Studio Ghibli: Spirited Away.

Eric Heisserer (Arrival) will be writing the screenplay for the adaptation, which will be live-action. Naturally Abrams own Bad Robot Productions will be on production duties, along with the banner’s Lindsey Weber. And there is a strong production link to the original via is Genki Kawamura, the producer of the original 2016 film. Though there's no hint of involvement at this stage from Makoto Shinkai, who wrote and directed the original. Paramount and Bad Robot will work with Toho Co., Ltd. - who produced the original - on the development of the new project, and Toho will handle distribution of the film in Japan.

The news has - naturally - been widely greeted by excitement and support from the Anime community, with comments such as: "Live action Your Name feels like something that is probably unnecessary", "Ok J.J. you can stop adapting things now", "Clearly Paramount didn't learn much from Ghost in the Shell", "Just what every Shinkai film needs, J.J.'s lens flare", "This could be the first good Hollywood adaptation" and "Hollywood can **** off! Just leave it alone".
