Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex coming to Blu-ray

After a raft of none-to-subtle teasing tweets about an upcoming announcement Manga Entertainment have finally spilled the beans that they will be releasing Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex on Blu-ray.

The release will be in the form of a limited deluxe edition, which is limited to 1000 copies, and will be exclusive to Zavvi. Presented in a rigid collector's box the set will contain:

  • Stand Alone Complex – 26 Episodes
  • Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig – 26 Episodes
  • The Laughing Man OVA
  • Individual Eleven OVA
  • Solid State Society

As well as the following on disc extras:

  • Interviews with Kenji Kamiyama (director), Yoko Kanno (composer), voice actors, writers, mecha designers, animation directors and more!
  • Trailer
  • TV Spots
  • Textless opening

Also included will be an exclusive 140-page in-depth book translated for this release that showcases timelines, episode breakdowns, staff & character profiles, a study of cyberpunk, annotated production sketches and "tonnes more GITS SAC content".

The release will be hitting Zavvi's virtual retail shelves on 4th June 2018, for an SRP of £149.99 (Zavvi are currently advertising a price of £99.99, with a "saving" of £50.00). Synopsis: Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex follows female cyborg Major Motoko Kusanagi and her fellow police officers of Section 9 hunt down a host of criminals in both the real and online worlds. In the course of their work, Kusanagi and Section 9 must do everything from resolving hostage crises to hunting down runaway state-of-the-art killing machines.
