Since seeing them a couple of weeks ago, I have been listening to 70s group ELO. Yeah I am showing my age, but they are a good band.

American Idiot - Oxford New Theatre 06/05/2016

Yup, the Green Day musical/rock opera. For the 2nd time.

Packed full of the songs from American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, the story of 3 friends from smalltown USA and the path that life takes them along.

I thought this slightly rawer than the one we saw 2 or 3 years back at Hammy O, but Shel thought this one more polished. Tight band, good performances all round and yeah, some songs and scenes really give a firm punch in the feels... Wake Me Up always gets me, as does the Good Riddance encore, but this is powerful music and storytelling.

Some turn of the decade stuff recently.

The wonderfully bonkers Dragonette:

Basement Jaxx's collaboration with Metropole Orkest:

Finally a video guide to tourism in Tokyo:

If and when I visit I'm not sure I'll be opening any bricks of coke with a katana. Health & safety nightmare I'll bet...

Time for some science fiction I think.

First up is the anthem that defined my time at uni and blew my tiny mind from the awesome alternative hip-hop supergroup Deltron 3030:

Second, once again the marvellous Janelle Mon?e, who is in the words of comedian and podcaster Greg Proops "Just the tiniest little thing and she can dance any which way she wants":

Finally and bang up to date is Kawehi:

She has a kickstarter, yo.

Thread necromancy time! This is my song of the year:

Alternative link.

Dragonette are back! I've been listening to their new album pretty much on repeat. The album is full of polished electropop, crammed with a sexy swagger:

There are some belters on that album. And since a new Star Wars film is coming out, here's Darth Vader.

I've recently became addicted to Cigarettes After Sex.
...the band, I mean.

Very relaxing music, nice change from the metal that is usually blasting from the speakers.
