Default SSDP Vulnerability

So I just got a letter from Virgin saying my home network has a SSDP Vulnerability and the easiest way to fix this is by blocking Port 1900 (From my understanding this is a UPnP port)

I'm just wondering if this is more of a "We noticed you have UPnP open, thats risky" kinda letter

Or more of a "Something on your network is exploting an SSDP Vulnerability"

How much would blocking port 1900 effect things like XBL/PSN/Clients of the Download Variety/Streaming sites like Crunchyroll

Blocking UPnP (aka Universal Plug n Play) won't affect anything other than any UPnP devices that the router is using (which is probably precisely no devices). It won't affect any other functionality or connectivity.

UPnP is the devil (useful/convenient if you don't know your way around your router's interface, but may condemn your devices to eternal damnation), close everything and only open what you need. Most companies will list required ports for their stuff somewhere.
