    probably a worktop oven

Car failed its MOT. looking at a replacement.

My want for a nice car is really making this difficult. RX8s are too much on tax...

Don't get an RX8. It will bankrupt you.

Nowt wrong with a Mk2 / Mk3 Golf GTI tbh. Can get them quite cheap, and highly moddable.

    I can't afford the insurance on a golf :p

And I'll get an RX8 in the future. Just not right now because I can't afford them.

Well, given how mazda's tech is moving with the new engine generation, might be worth waiting to see what they come up with. It looks rather tasty and they might just replace the RX8 with something nice and shiny.

Based on my insurance quote I may go with the ford focus my mechanic is selling
£350, 1.6 Ford Focus Zetec. 58 reg but manufactured in 2001? dunno but w/e, seems the cheapest option short term.

Actually probably a decent Focus tbh. Before they got all cheap, and sounds like a Euro 3 engine which will be cheap to fix.

    Go for it.

And the hits just keep on coming as I ran into my landlord yesterday who told me that he hadn't received any rent payment for last month (my rent is paid directly to my landlord instead of being paid to me and transferring it to the landlord) which sent me into another pit of worry for the remainder of yesterday and most of today until I went down to the one stop shop and found that a flag from the DWP caused them to suspend my claim for housing benefit, and the only thing I suspected that flag to be was my annual JSA review which came through late December which took them long enough to sort out and reinstate the claim that a months payment was miss, but now everything has been sorted and payments have been reinstated including what wasn't paid.

My landlord wasn't impressed when I told him what the cause was and what I suspected the reason for it was.

He's now turned around and said (to my mum admittedly, as it's her guy) that the hyundai i10 one of his customers is selling may be a better choice. That would require a loan and with everything going on in my situation at the moment, that seems a bit much. Plus it's also only a 1.2 ;p

Either way, I'll have a "new" car in about 10 days because thats when my 2 weeks is up for the MOT re-do

And again the tides have turned

based on yet more finances and payment options, the Alfa isn't a bad shout. Even if repairs could be expensive. The Focus isn't worth the insurance considering it's a banger, and the insurance is the same if not more than the Alfa.

    hmmmmmmmmmm
i need to speak to my insurance.

Every single Alfa I've known people to get has spent more time at the garage than on the road. When they run they're great cars but say goodbye to any money you're trying to save if you get it.
