Universities are dens of villainy and sedition - you can never trust anyone who has attended one...or even worse, works in one! :p

Only trust those who drop out due to not bothering to turn up as more important thing called, like the pub.

Leeds sent me a few emails with questions, perhaps they'll give me a uni offer soon too. Will be a bit of a trickster moment from them if they ask me for more details just to say no.

Next City review I'm looking for is Sheffield.

Looks like if Liverpool Uni reject me, I'm gonna be off long term to a new City for the first time in my life. Maybe I'll just decide to go somewhere other than Liverpool regardless...

Sheffield’s quite nice these days by all accounts. Busy bar/pub scene. Though I never cared for the city centre much personally (it’s kind of an odd layout) it has everything you need.

My advice would be to move somewhere, get as far away from Home as you are comfortable doing then double the distance. ;) - talk to anyone who stayed at or too near home when they went to uni and you can almost guarantee that’s near the top of their regrets list.

The main reason is you can't rely on your parents to bail you out. I was a 2 hour~ drive away and it definitely helped in making me more independent.

Guarantee that regardless of your current feelings, you'll want to live alone once you're done with first year. The freedom is great.

According to google (driving time) I'm 2 hours from Leeds and Sheffield, 1 hour Manchester and like 10-20 minutes from Liverpool.

I'm right in thinking it's often better to book multiple singles than a standard return? As long as it's cheaper.

Well, I just got a message a few hours ago from my bank that for some unknown reason (even the people at the local branch don't know) has detected an issue with my debit card and is issuing a replacement.

At least the procedure is the same as when they send out a replacement for a card that is due to expire.

Depends. I buy returns for the basis that my whole journey is covered and I get a full refund if there is a train cancellation, or major delay.

    I also like flexibility.

But, if you are short on cash, and aren't prone to travel anxiety, then singles will work.

Thanks, I bought singles this time around but I don't really know anything about train times. Perhaps the extra £5 would've been worth it considering it's my first time on a decent journey. (£11 vs £17)

I think unless it's ridiculously cheaper I'll just go for a return ticket to the other places in future then.
