The dichotomy of good and evil is universal throughout all cultures on the Earth. Where you get good, you can guarantee that evil will not be far behind. They are complimentary, yet contradictory and present in all things. Where you have gods (in this case, goddesses) you will also have demons and the forces of evil and this is what volume 3 inputs into the equation.

It is safe to assume that when you have 2 goddesses on Earth, the amount of good will rise, overpowering and unbalancing the delicate equilibrium that has existed since time began. This causes the reawakening of the demon Mara (with help from Keiichi’s Auto Club knucklehead friends). Mara was sealed away by Urd and Belldandy in a magical CD many millennia ago and now seeks revenge. The goddesses’ weakness? Who else could it be?

Needless to say, Keiichi is not a happy bunny in this volume. Not only does he have to deal with the wrath of Mara and experience life as a motorcycle (Read: Moped) he also has to content with having his heart meddled with to the point of sheer sexual confusion. In addition to this, the bugs in the system released by the munchkin sized younger sister of Belldandy and Urd, Skuld, causes yet more havoc for the poor lad. Admittedly being 3 inches tall could have its advantages if you find the fetish of giant ladies pleasurable, but I am guessing Keiichi would not enjoy it quite as much as some people I know.

Skuld is a peculiar little woman and I honestly cannot figure her out. Although she is a complete technological nerd with a mind beyond genius, she is still only ‘young’ and has major issues with being alone. She is stubborn, overly competitive, and the dub actress who takes over her voice gives her voice an ear-drum piercingly shrill pitch. She is still lovable and joins an already full cast of wonderful characters.

This series is simply getting better as the series matures and I honestly cannot wait for more. The voice acting is still first class and the cast are showing no signs of fatigue, which can only bode well.

We are now half way through this first series, and I have high hopes for the future volumes. Bring them on!

Superb. Might need some more adjectives at this rate...
